It is based on the comic book series of the same name by Robert Kirkman. Five inmates in the prison survived the apocalypse, locked up in the cafeteria for ten months. They were unaware of the Walker plague that wiped out a large percentage of the population until released from the cafeteria by Rick's group. Rick tells them they can live in a separate cell block.
